Privacy Policy - ClearScanner App

Credible Arena (OPC) Private Limited ("we," "our," or "us") operates the ClearScanner mobile application (the "App"), published on Google Play as com.crediblearena.clearscanner. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our document scanning application.

1. Information We DO NOT Collect

ClearScanner does not collect or transmit:

• Your scans, documents, photos or PDFs
• Text recognised from your pages by OCR
• Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Usage analytics, crash reports or app behaviour data
• Contacts, calendar or social media information
• Any data from other apps on your device

We do not operate a ClearScanner account system, and there is no ClearScanner server for your documents to be sent to.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it unless you deliberately share or export it:

2.1 Your Documents

• Scanned page images and the PDF files created from them
• Document titles, folders, tags and creation dates
• Text recognised by on-device OCR, stored in a local database so you can search inside your scans
• Signatures, annotations, stamps and watermarks you add
• Documents in the recycle bin, which are deleted permanently after 30 days

2.2 App Preferences

• Theme, default page size, file size and export settings
• Watermark and page number preferences
• OCR language selection
• App lock setting and whether biometric unlock is enabled

3. Permissions Required

ClearScanner requests the following permissions:

3.1 Camera (CAMERA)

Purpose: To photograph the pages, ID cards and QR codes you want to scan.

Data Use: Images are written directly to the App's private storage on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere.

3.2 Photo Library (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / Photos)

Purpose: Only when you choose to import a picture you already have, use one for an ID photo, read a QR code from one, or import a signature image.

Data Use: ClearScanner reads only the specific images you select. It does not scan or index your gallery.

3.3 Internet (INTERNET) and Network State (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)

Purpose: ClearScanner performs no network requests of its own. This permission is present because (a) Google Play services may download the document scanning module described in section 4.3 the first time you scan, and (b) it is required by the optional Google Drive backup described in section 5.2, which is not enabled in this version.

Data Use: No document, image, recognised text or personal data is transmitted by the App. You can put your device in flight mode and every scanning, OCR, PDF and export feature will continue to work.

3.4 Foreground Service, Wake Lock and Notifications

Purpose: To let a long-running task, such as a backup, finish without the system suspending it, and to show the notification Android requires while such a task runs.

Data Use: None. These permissions carry no data off the device.

3.5 Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC / Face ID)

Purpose: Optional. Lets you unlock the App with your fingerprint or face instead of typing the passcode.

Data Use: Your fingerprint and face data never reach the App. ClearScanner asks the operating system to verify you and receives only a yes or no answer.

4. On-Device Processing

Everything that makes ClearScanner useful runs on your device, not on a server:

4.1 Text Recognition (OCR)

OCR uses Google ML Kit text recognition models that are bundled inside the App. Your page images are never sent to Google or to us in order to read them. Latin, Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese and Korean models are all included and work with no connection.

4.2 QR Codes and Barcodes

Barcode reading uses Google ML Kit barcode scanning models that are also bundled inside the App and run entirely offline.

4.3 Document Edge Detection

The camera view that finds the edges of a page is provided by the Google ML Kit Document Scanner, which is delivered through Google Play services rather than bundled in the App.

4.4 PDF Creation and Password Protection

PDF files, including password protected PDFs using AES-128 encryption, are generated on your device. Your password is used to encrypt the file and is not stored, transmitted or recoverable by us.

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Google Play Services

• Purpose: Delivers the document scanning module described in section 4.3.
• Data Shared by ClearScanner: None. The App requests the module; it does not send your documents.

5.2 Google Drive Backup (Optional, Not Enabled in This Version)

ClearScanner contains an optional Google Drive backup feature that is switched off and unavailable in this release. The Settings screen shows it as "Not available in this version".

If it is enabled in a future version, it will work as follows, and this section describes it in advance so there are no surprises:

• It is strictly opt-in. Nothing is backed up unless you turn it on and sign in.
• Backups go to your own Google Drive, not to us. We would still have no server and no copy of your files.
• It uses the drive.appdata scope, which writes to a hidden application folder in your Drive and cannot read any other file in your Drive.
• You can revoke access at any time from your Google account settings, and disconnect from within the App.

5.3 Apps You Share To

When you share or print a document, your device's standard share sheet hands the file to the app you pick, such as an email client, a messaging app or a printer. From that point the receiving app's own privacy policy applies. We have no involvement in and no visibility of what happens next.

6. No Advertising or Tracking

ClearScanner does not contain:

• Third-party advertisements or ad SDKs
• Analytics or tracking software
• Social media SDKs
• Crash reporting tools that transmit data
• Any in-app purchases or subscriptions

7. No Account or Cloud Sync

ClearScanner does not require or support:

• User account creation, sign-up or login
• Cloud storage of your documents on our systems
• Synchronisation between devices
• A web version or online document viewer

8. Backups and Data Portability

ClearScanner can export your entire library to a single backup file that you keep wherever you choose. It is an ordinary ZIP archive, so your pages remain readable on any computer even without the App, and you can restore it on a new phone in one step.

9. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• Your documents are protected by your device's own security, such as the lock screen and full-device encryption
• The App's files are held in its private application storage, which other apps cannot read
• You can add a second layer with the App lock, using a passcode plus optional fingerprint or face unlock
• Individual PDFs can be exported with AES-128 password protection
• Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all local data

We recommend enabling device encryption and a secure lock screen.

10. Children's Privacy

ClearScanner is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal data at all, children's privacy is inherently protected.

11. Your Rights and Control

Since we do not collect any personal data:

• There is no data to request, access, correct, export or delete from us, because we hold none
• All your app data is on your device and under your sole control
• You can delete individual documents, empty the recycle bin, clear app data in your device settings, or uninstall the App to remove everything
• You can export everything at any time using the backup feature described in section 8

12. Documents Belonging to Other People

If you scan a document that contains someone else's personal information, such as an identity card, a medical record or a signed agreement, that information stays on your device under your control. You are responsible for handling it lawfully. We never receive it and cannot act on it on your behalf.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page and, where significant, noted in the App. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when changes were made.

14. International Users

ClearScanner can be used worldwide. Since no data is transmitted to our servers, there are no international data transfer concerns.

15. Compliance with Laws

ClearScanner complies with:

• Google Play Developer Policies, including the Data safety and User Data policies
• GDPR (Europe) - no personal data collection or processing by us
• CCPA (California) - no personal data collection, and no sale or sharing of personal information
• India's Information Technology Act and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
